105th PSL National Series goes to Capiz.

MORE than 300 tankers from different parts of the Visayas region will be vying for honors in the 105th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series beginning today at the Villareal Sports Complex in Roxas City, Capiz.

Leading the participan­ts are promising tankers from host Capiz, Aklan, Bacolod, Cebu City and Iloilo as they aim to earn slots to the PSL delegation competing in internatio­nal competitio­ns in Australia, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong next year.

“This event is open to all young and aspiring swimmers who want to be part of the PSL team competing in different internatio­nal tournament­s. We are looking forward to discover more fresh talents,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

Some of the PSL products from the Visayas region are reigning PSL Female Swimmer of the Year and 2016 Palarong Pambansa Elementary Girls Most Bemedalled Swimmer Kyla Soguilon, Lucio Cuyong and Joemarie Borres, who won numerous gold medals in internatio­nal tournament­s.

“Our main objective is to identify talents and send them in internatio­nal competitio­ns. We want them to experience this opportunit­y to represent our and bring honors to our country,” added Papa.

Medals are up for grabs in the 6-under, 7-year, 8year, 9-year, 10-year, 11-year, 12-year, 13-year, 14-year and 15-over for boys and girls with the top tankers in each category will be awarded with the Most Outstandin­g Swimmer trophies.

“PSL is giving much support to this province and its neighborin­g regions. What ever we had accomplish PSL wants to do the same to promote the swimming sports and develop swimming champions through grassroots developmen­t program,” added Papa.

After the Capiz meet, the next competitio­n will be the 106th PSL National Series - 10th Sen. Nikki Coseteng Swimming Cup scheduled on December 10 at the Diliman Preparator­y School in Quezon City.
