CUSTOMS SEIZE 1.3 KILOS OF MARIJUANA

CUSTOMS authoritie­s arrested a man who was claiming a package which contained 1.3 kilos of marijuana at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) of the Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport ( NAIA). The claimant identified as Tyrone M. Lopez of Meadowood, Executive Village, Barang, Bacoor, Cavite, sent a representa­tive on Thursday to claim the package but Customs operatives refused to release the parcel unless Lopez himself claimed it. Customs District III Collector Ed Macabeo, said the parcel was sent by a certain Minerva Thomas of Colton, California. The parcel also contained two backpacks, a tackle box, a cooler, fishing strings, and shoes. All of it contained dried marijuana leaves, one vial of Cannabis oil and three grams of marijuana seeds. Macabeo added that the shipment arrived at the post office on Wednesday and was declared as personal effects. The suspect is still in the custody of Customs awaiting charges for violation of RA 9165 or Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act.

DRUG SUSPECT KILLED IN BUY- BUST

A DRUG suspect was shot and killed in a buy-bust in Tondo, Manila at dawn on Friday. Ruel Baldesoto, 45, of Gate 20, Parola Compund, died on the way to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center. Poseur buyer Police Officer 3 Reynaldo Cordova of Police Station 2 Drug Enforcemen­t Unit met Baldesoto at Pier 2, Isla Putting Bato at about 1: 45 a. m. but the suspect suddenly fired at the policeman. Cordova quickly run for cover and engaged the suspect in a firefight. Chief Inspector Michael Garcia, head of the Station 2 anti- drug unit, joined him. Recovered from the crime scene were the .38 caliber pistol of the suspect, four sachets of shabu, and P100 buy- bust money.

P1- M WORTH OF SHABU CONFISCATE­D IN QC

POLICEMEN arrested two suspects for P1 million worth of shabu in Quezon City on Thursday. Quezon City Police District ( QCPD) Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspects as Joel Taruc, 38, of Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon, and Gladwin Balaguer, 39, of Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Novaliches. Operatives of the Quezon City Drug Enforcemen­t Unit conducted a buy- bust at around 4: 30 p. m. along Congressio­nal Road, Mindanao Avenue which led to the arrest of the two. They seized packs of shabu weighing 200 grams with estimated street value of P1,000,000, several drug parapherna­lia, six live ammunition­s of cal. 45, a mobile phone, a pair of LTO license plates, one hundred peso bills dusted with ultra violet powder and incorporat­ed with nine bogus 1,000 peso bills in buy bust money. The shabu confiscate­d from the suspects was from an undisclose­d place in Region IV which supplies it to several areas in Quezon City, Manila and Caloocan. The suspects were charged with violation of the Comprehens­ive Dangerous drugs Act.
