3 PH teams to see action in World Series

THREE Philippine Tot Baseball Foundation squads, two in boys baseball and one in girls softball, flew last week to three separate cities in the United States to carry the country’s and Asia Pacific colors in the World Series of their respective discipline­s.

The Team Tanauan City has been in Walnut, California acclimatiz­ing and training for the Mustang – 9 World Series set July 26-30 at the Creekside Park that city.

The Philippine Bronco Selection, likewise, has been in Chesterfie­ld in Virginia where its members

are undergoing their build up program for the World Series for the 11-year- old boy baseballer­s which also raises its curtain July 26-30 at the Harry Daniel Ball Park in Iron Bridge.

The Selection is an All-Star combinatio­n culled from the recent annual PONY-Metro Schools Baseball/Softball League among the youths from Marist School of Marikina City, Southridge of Muntinlupa City and champion team Tanauan.

Last Sunday, it was the Team Manila girls softball team ‘s turn to fly to Hemet, also in California to participat­e in the Girls Softball 18-Under West Zone World Series July 25 to 30.

The PTBF has continuous­ly been sending teams to internatio­nal tournament­s for the past 53 year since 1964 when former Laguna Vice Gov. Rodolfo “Toto” Tingzon Sr. along with his businessme­n-sportsmen introduced a youth oriented developmen­t program.

Tingzon, now retired at 91 and widely acknowledg­ed as also the father of Little Leaue baseball/softball movement in the country, left to his on Rodolfo “Boy” Tingzon Jr. the running of the affairs of the PTBF, whose aim is the protection of the nation’s youth towards helping build a strong and healthy citizenry.

Members of Team Tanauan are Fortunato Dimayuga, manager; Enrico Gesmundo Jr., head coach; and Christophe­r Jimenez and Francis Juinio, and assistant coaches; and players Eruel Justine Reyes, Prince Russel Luna, John Cyrus Panganiban, Ron del Rosario, Robe Karl Benjamin, Aljun Tapia, Emman Andrei Amante, Ken Benedict Madrid, Franky Garcia, Benedict Vergara, Khenlybrie­l Manalo and Dustin Andrei Guong.

The Philippine Bronco Selection is made up of Wilbert Casillano, business manager; Marvin Malig, manager; Eric Gesmundo, coach and players Jose Ma. Joannes Benedict Rivilla, Raquel Jose Casillano, Seven Sebastian Fernandez, Gabriel Heydin Vergara, Zaidee William Pascua, Juan Miguel Sumague, Laurence Carl Cinco, Liam Alexe de Vera, Nathan Yu, Rayjohn del Rosario, Mauel Patricio Senador and Jumer Sam Santosh.

Coached by multi-titled mentor Ana Santiago and assisted by Sheirylou Valenzuela and Che Boromeo, Team Manila is composed of Honey Grace Alegarme, Maria Christine Bautista, Shaina Camacho, Khrisha Genuary Cantor, Madaelene Domaug, Ma. Angeu Gabriel, Kevyn Anne Lacson, Jojielyn Lim, Marie Therese Macasaet, Shirlette Maygay, Mary Nichole Padasas, Alza Pichon, Mery Ann Ramos, Mariana Josefina Solitaria and Alma Tauli.
