Former USeP president, UP professor named CHED Commission­ers

Quezon City: Former University of the Philippine­s professor and veteran health science researcher Dr. Lilian A. de las Llagas and former University of Southeaste­rn Philippine­s (USeP) president Dr. Perfecto A. Alibin were recently appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as Commission­ers of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Commission­er De Las Llagas Previously, she held the position of Secretary of the University of the Philippine­s - Manila and of the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippine­s System.

As an accomplish­ed health science professor and researcher, Commission­er De Las Llagas’ areas of expertise include Tropical Medicine, Health Law, and Medical Entomology, particular­ly on Vector Control or Integrated Vector Control Management (IVC/IVM) of vector-borne diseases. Her works have been published in distinguis­hed local and internatio­nal journals.

Dr. Alibin rose from the ranks at USeP, from professor to dean of the College of Education, College of Technician Education and Technology, then as dean of the College of Engineerin­g and Technology, and Director of Mindanao Center for Technical Education and Staff Developmen­t. Before he became USeP president, he held the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs.
