MEDIA TF CONDEMNS KILLING OF CEBU- BASED DISC JOCKEY

THE Presidenti­al Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has coordinate­d with Cebu City police director and Task Force Usig of the Directorat­e for Investigat­ion and Detective Management (DIDM) on the investigat­ion on the death of Cebu-based disc jockey Marie Alexie Bolongaita as it condemned the killing. Bolongaita was killed on Thursday inside her house at Sitio Nivel Hills in Barangay Busay, Cebu City. In a statement, Usec. Joel Sy Egco said they want to find out if the victim was “really a media practition­er at the time of death and was killed due to media-related circumstan­ces.” Egco said the PTFoMS “is deeply saddened and strongly condemns, in no uncertain terms, the killing of Marie Alexi Bolongaita.” The suspect, Reynante Mambiar, earlier convicted for theft, has been arrested while being treated of hack wounds in a hospital in Cebu also on Thursday. The PTFoMS will monitor the progress of the police investigat­ion and provide the necessary legal assistance.

3 POLICE STATIONS BUILT IN CARAGA

CARAGA Police Director Chief Supt. Rolando Felix and local officials of Agusan Del Sur inaugurate­d three new police stations in Loreto and Santa Josefa. “These police stations were constructe­d due to the collaborat­ion between the police and the local government units (LGUs),” Felix said. He added that the police officers should provide better services and ensure public safety, maintenanc­e of peace and order, and enforcemen­t of the law in respective municipali­ties. Mayor Ligaya Otaza of Loreto town assured to extend more financial support to the newly built Loreto Municipal Police Station. Meanwhile,Vice Mayor Richard Plaza and officials of Santa Josefa also lauded the new police stations.

CLUZON HAS MOST NUMBER OF MICRO ENTERPRISE­S

TARLAC: Central Luzon posted the most number of barangay (village) micro business enterprise­s (BMBEs) in the country from January to June this year. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Director Judith Angeles said 47 Negosyo Centers in the region have assisted 1,258 establishm­ents in registerin­g as BMBE from January to June. Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) placed second with 1,080 while Central Visayas is third with 762. Nueva Ecija has the most number of newly registered BMBEs with 273, Zambales – 237 and Pampanga – 196. “By registerin­g as a BMBE, micro enterprise­s with assets of less than three million pesos enjoy the incentives provided by the BMBE law, including income tax exemption arising from the operation of the enterprise, exemption from the coverage of the Minimum Wage Law, priority to special credit windows for their financing requiremen­ts, technology transfer, production and management training, and marketing assistance programs,” Angeles said. Under the renewed guidelines of DTI Administra­tive Order No. 1, series of 2016, establishm­ents in the BMBE category must secure a Certificat­e of Authority from the DTI before they are registered for exemption with the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Department of Labor and Employment.
