Outstanding PWDs, advocates to be honored at the Mabini Awards

THE Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Inc (PFRD) has recently announced the winners of the 29th ApolinarioMabini Awards, a major biennial program honoring individuals, groups and agencies who have made outstanding contributions to persons with disabilities.

The Mabini Presidential Award was given to Jocelyn Rosemarie Cris Ceval EVP of Tahanang Walang Hagdan, for her efforts to inspire PWDs to be lead

Hans Sy, director of SM Prime Holdings Inc, also received the Mabini Presidential Recognition Award for his dedication to promote awareness and inclusion for PWDs which is evident in how he encouraged different organizations to hold their programs in various SM establishments.

Lawmakers Sonny Angara and Martin Romualdez were also given the Apolinario Mabini Special Recognition Awards for their active work in

Meanwhile, the PWD Filipino of the Year was given to Maria Elena DelgadoMolina, president of the Association of Differently-Abled Persons of Antique, for consistently working for empowerment and capacity-building of the PWD sector. Media Advocate of the Year was given to Romualdo San Pascual, also known as ‘Bulagkaster’, the blind professional broadcast media practitioner of 22 years whose radio show focuses on issues concerning PWDs and the marginalized sector.

This year’s Mabini Awards is led by chairperson of the Awards Committee, Mrs. Lourdes DelaLlana Pimentel, and the chairperson of the Screening Committee, Arch. Jaime Silva, and made possible by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) and Megaworld Corporation.
