2 ‘ BALAGTAS GANG’ MEMBERS SLAIN IN PAMPANGA

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga: Two members of suspected gun- forhire group “Arnold Balagtas Gang” were killed in a shootout with policemen at a check point in Candaba town on Sunday. Police Regional Office 3 Director, Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, identified the slain suspects alias “Umeng” and alias “Sonny,” both tagged in the killing of a former village councilor of Barangay Concepcion in San Simon town. Police manning a checkpoint flagged down the suspects on board a motorcycle for verificati­on but instead of slowing down, suspects opened fired triggering a shoot out. Recovered from the crime scene were one a caliber 9mm Beretta pistol with magazine assembly loaded with live ammunition; 2 black motorcycle­s without license plate and caliber .38 revolver.

LASCIVIOUS­NESS SUSPECT ACCIDENTAL­LY KILLED

A MAN accused of acts of lascivious­ness was accidental­ly killed after he allegedly grabbed the gun of his police escorts while on the way for medical examinatio­n in Pasig City on Sunday evening. Police identified the suspect as Paolo Nel Pabale, 31, of Buena compound, Cainta, Rizal. Police said Annaliza Village and her seven-year- old daughter reported to the Police Community Precinct 6 in Barangay Santa Lucia, Pasig City that Pabale touched the private parts of her daughter. Another complainan­t, Eva Contusido, also reported on the same night that the suspect mashed her breasts. The suspect was arrested in front of Kutsaron KTV bar on Or tigas Avenue Exention, Barangay Rosario. While being brought to a hospital for medical examinatio­n he allegedly grabbed the ser vice pistol of his police escor t, Police Officer 1 Pacis, that accidental­ly went off hitting him in the head. He was declared dead on arrival at Pasig City General Hospital. Pacis surrendere­d his ser vice firearm and was placed under restrictiv­e custody pending investigat­ion.

TARLAC SUGAR FARM WORKERS GET LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE

TARLAC: Some 51 sugar farm workers and planters here benefited from the P500,000 wor th of livelihood assistance given under the Social Ameliorati­on Program ( SAP) of the Department of Labor and Employment ( DoLE). DoLE Regional Director Ana Dione, in a statement, said P20,000 worth of Kabuhayan Star ter Kits were awarded to 29 sugar workers and sugarcane planters as star t- up or to improve their businesses like mini sari- sari ( variety) store, rice retailing, and assor ted frozen goods- retailing. Meanwhile, nine high- speed sewing machines amounting P300,000 benefited 22 members of the Central Azucarera de Tarlac Employees’ Dependent Producers Cooperativ­e. All beneficiar­ies have undergone Entreprene­urial Developmen­t Training to ensure proper management and sustainabi­lity of their livelihood projects. SAP was establishe­d in the sugar industry to contribute to the attainment of decent living of sugar workers and their families through various production sharing- schemes.
