MAKATI STARTS RELEASING YEAR- END CASH GIFT TO SENIOR CITIZENS

THE Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) started the distributi­on of year-end cash gift for senior citizens who are Blu Card holders on Thursday which will run until December 11. MSWD officer-in-charge Ryan Barcelo reported to Mayor Abby Binay that over 79,000 qualified beneficiar­ies will receive their cash gift on scheduled dates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at designated venues. Blu Card holders who are 60-69 years old will receive P1,500; 70-79 years old, P2,000; and 80-89 years old, P2,500. This Friday, beneficiar­ies in Barangay Pitogo, San Lorenzo, Pinagkaisa­han, Carmona and Singkamas can get their cash gifts at their barangay (village) halls, while those from Barangay Tejeros will get their at Elderly Wellness Center. The rest can claim their gift at Barangay Olympia (covered court) and Bangkal (barangay hall) on November 27 and 28; Barangay Comembo and East Rembo at their covered courts on November 29; Barangay Rizal and Barangay Poblacion (covered court) on December 1 and 2; Barangay Pembo covered court on December 4 and 5; Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo covered court on December 4; Barangay West Rembo covered court on December 5; Barangay South Cembo and San Antonio covered courts on December 6; Barangay Palanan covered court and Guadalupe Viejo barangay hall on December 7; Barangay Dasmariñas, Cembo and San Isidro barangay halls on December 8; Barangay Northside at Makati City Hall Building II; Barangay Magallanes, Urdaneta and Forbes Park on December 9; and Barangay Pio del Pilar on December 9 and 11.

BIR FILES TAX EVASION CASES VS 2 BICOL TRADERS

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed tax evasion cases against two traders in Bicol for allegedly P12.41-million tax fraud. Charged were Andres Seva and Helen Delos Santos for violation of Section 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code. Seva owned that Naga City-based A. Seva Constructi­on while Delos Santos owned the Catanduane­s-based Saint Therese Commercial Constructi­on and Supply. The BIR said Seva failed to pay taxes worth P3.74-million in 2007 while Delos Santos was sued for tax liability valued at P8.67-million covering years 2009 and 2010.

2 NABBED FOR FAKE MONEY IN VIZCAYA

BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya: Two persons were arrested after allegedly using fake P1,000 bill to buy items from a vendor here. Chief Insp. Villegas Claveria, town police chief, identified the suspects as Kevin Santos and Jamaica Cruz, who claimed to be from Makati City. Vidalio Marte said the suspects purchased from him garlic and onions worth P110 and was handed P1,000 bill but after giving them P890 change, he noticed that the bill was fake. He then held the suspects until the police came to arrest them. Claveria said three more victims showed up at the police station. Police has warned fake money usually spread during the yuletide season.

THIEVES’ TURF WAR IN CALOOCAN’

CALOOCAN police chief, Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo on Thursday said the cause of turf war among thieves in the city with the discovery of five bodies with slit throats in separate areas this week. The bodies of two unidentifi­ed men, both about 20 to 30 years old, were found on Wednesday sprawled on a dimly lit portion of EDSA in Caloocan. A cardboard with the message “This is our turf, you should not be here, there will be others to follow,” with names of certain “Oca, Gidoy, Jerome, Carlo Intsik, Sylex, Daboy and Roniel” apparently the next target, was found on top of the victim’s bodies. Modequillo believed that the threatenin­g words on the cardboard served as a warning to some people who were trying to engage in illegal activities in the territory of their adversarie­s. Another body of a man was discovered along Tawilis St., Dagat-Dagatan Extension in Barangay 28. The victim, wearing white sleeveless shirt and denim pants was believed killed somewhere and dumped in the area.
