Sylvia and Arjo—real-life mother and son begin new soap
JUST how far will a mother’s love push her to protect her child’s life? This is the premise of “Hanggang Saan,” ABSCBN’s newest drama series, which will present an unconventional take a mother’s love, while bringing together real-life mother and son Sylvia Sanchez and Arjo Atayde in their first team- up.
After her remarkable portrayal of the character Gloria in “The Greatest Love,” Sanchez portrays Sonya, a brave mother who will do anything for her children. Atayde, meanwhile plays the smart and reliable Paco, a law student and Sonya’s dedicated son.
The story will see Sonya getting herself in a perilous situation where she ends up killing an innocent man to prolong the life of her son.
“Sonya will definitely create an argument between mothers and children. She will raise questions in mothers like ‘ Will I also do what Sonya did?’ ‘ Did she have to commit the crime?’,” Sanchez related at the show’s press launch.
“We will shatter the image of the ideal mother. We will see how a person can love another who is extremely flawed,” Atayde added.
Rounding up the cast in this powerful drama are Teresa Loyzaga, Sue Ramirez, Ariel Rivera, Yves Flores, Maris Racal and Marlo Mortel, as well as Nikko Natividad, Rommel Padilla, Nanding Josef, Anna Luna, Mercedes Cabral, Rubi Rubi, Viveika Ravanes, Sharmaine Suarez, Ces Quesada, Arnold Reyes, Maila Gumila, and Junjun Quintana.
Hanggang Saan is under the direction of Mervyn Brondial and Jeffrey Jeturian, and premieres on Monday, November 27 on ABS- CBN’s afternoon block Kapamilya Gold, after “Pusong Ligaw.”
