Mapúa welcomes former DepEd secretary to Board of Trustees

MAPÚA University recently appointed former Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Br. Armin Luistro, FSC, to its Board of Trustees.

According to Mapúa University Dr. Reynaldo Vea, Luistro brings extensive and very relevant experience to Mapúa’s Board of Trustees.

“His expertise and impressive track record, both in the private and public sectors, will imbue Board decisions with greater informatio­n, sharper perspectiv­e and weightier wisdom,” said Dr. Vea.

Luistro was appointed the secretary of the Department of Education of the Philippine­s in 2010, a position he held until 2016. Luistro also served as president and chancellor of De La Salle University from 2006 to 2010, president and CEO of De La Salle Philippine­s from 2005 to 2009, president of the DLSU system from 2004 to 2006 and as provincial superior of De La Salle Brothers Philippine District from 1997 to 2003.

Luistro was made Doctor of Humane Letters, honoriscau­sa, by the La Salle University in Philadelph­ia in 2004. He was conferred a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Letters at DLSU in Manila under a scholarshi­p, graduating in 1981. He was also conferred a Master of Arts degree in Religious education by the same institutio­n in 1993, and graduated with a master’s degree in religious education and values formation in 2003.
