HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION, TRAINING SLATED IN BULACAN
THE Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and National Press Club of the Philippines (NPC) are conducting human rights education and training for the members of Bulacan Press Club (BPC), personnel from the Provincial Information Office of Bulacan and members of Bulacan Police Provincial Office this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hiyas ng Bulakan Convention Center in Malolos City. CHR Training Specialist Jezzamine Andaquig, said that the objective of the training and education are to highlight the role of the members of the press in the promotion and the protection of human rights; provide guidance on effective human rights training programming for media professionals and journalists; support the development, adoption and implementation of relevant sustainable training strategies and to highlight the importance of enabling environments guaranteeing the protection and safety of media professionals and journalists The training and education with media professionals and journalists in the academe, non- governmental organizations and government organizations is in line with the World Programme for Human Rights Education Phase 3 under the United Nations.
NBI OPENS SATELLITE OFFICE IN SULU
ZAMBOANGA CITY: The National Bureau of Investigation ( NBI) officially opened its satellite office in Patikul town to better service Muslims both in Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. NBI deputy directors Antonio Pagatpat (Operations Services) and Ferdinand Lavin, ( Forensics); and lawyer Peter Lugar, acting NBI regional director for Western Mindanao, led the opening of the office with Sulu Gov. Totoh Tan and municipal mayors. Former Sulu governor and philanthropist, Sakur Tan, joined the inauguration of the NBI office. The former governor, also known in Sulu as Datu Shahbandar, initiated the move to call on national government agencies to have representation in the province. In his speech, Tan stressed the importance of having an office of the NBI in Sulu and urged other government agencies to also set up offices in the province and bring the services of government closer to the people.
