PSC programs to go full blast in Mindanao
PHILIPPINE Sports Commission ( PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez has directed commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey to go full blast in promoting the agency’s grassroots sports development programs in Mindanao. “We must take a move and make our programs felt in Mindanao,” Ramirez said. The PSC chief said Mindanao has long been neglected by previous administrations. Thus, its people must experience the PSC programs under the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Ramirez ordered Maxey and the rest of the Philippine Sports Institute Davao coordinators to submit their programs and calendar of activities for 2018.
Ramirez said that the Department of the Interior and Local Government ( DILG), Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education committed to support the PSC’s grassroots sport programs.
“I have talked to DILG Usec ( Austere) Panadero and Deped Usec ( Tonisito) Umali and they are very much willing to help and support our grassroots programs,” Ramirez added.
“We will revive the Mindanao Friendship Games ( MFG) starting next year and we will start the open water swimming program in March,” Maxey said, adding that they will map out schedule on LGU visits before the relaunch of the MFG that only had three editions staged in the past - Tubod, Lanao del Norte in 2001, Cagayan de Oro City in 2002 and Mati City in 2003.
