‘Urduja’ turns into tropical depression

A LOW pressure area located in Surigao del Sur has turned in into a tropical depression a and was named Urduja, a according to the state- run w weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheri­c Geophysica­l and Astron nomical Services Administra­ti tion (Pagasa) on Tuesday afte ternoon said Urduja was sp spotted 480 kilometers eastn northeast of Hinatuan, and m may intensify into a tropical st storm within 36 hours.

Heavy rainfall is estim mated within the 250k km diameter of the tropic cal depression, which has m maximum winds of up to 5 55 kilometers per hour and g gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Because of Urduja, light to moderate rains may o occur over Metro Manila, Q Quezon province, Cavite, B Batangas and portions of R Rizal and Laguna.

Moderate to heavy rains w will continue over Visayas b because of the tropical dep pression and the tail end of a cold front.

Mindanao, on the other h hand, will have cloudy skies w with scattered light rainshowe ers and thundersto­rms.

Urduja is forecast to move n north-northwest at 6 kph.

As a result of its slow m movement, it will only m make landfall over the B Bicol Region by Sunday afte ternoon, Pagasa said.
