Quezon City adopts San Pedro Bautista as patron saint
TO mark the 420th anniversary of the martyrdom of San Pedro Bautista, the Quezon City Council passed a resolution adopting the Spanish saint as one of the patrons of Quezon City.
Introduced by Councilor Anthony Peter Crisologo, the resolution will establish Santuario de San Pedro Bautista Parish as a culture and heritage site under the Diocese of Cubao.
The activities of the Feast of San Pedro Bautista, also known as the Pedrista Festival, will include a threeday visit of the pilgrim image of San Pedro Bautista to Quezon City Hall, and a city-wide choral competition in recognition of San Pedro Bautista for being the Patron of musicians choir in the Philippines.
The city government will also install a statue of San Pedro Bautista on the intersection of Del Monte and Roosevelt Avenue, dedicating the rotunda in his honor.
