-

AS Japan readies itself to receive more tourists in the lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, students from Toyama College of Business and Information Technology (BIT), a technical college in Imizu, Toyama, Japan, have been taking intensive courses on hospitality service at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).

A second batch of 15 pupils from Toyama were in the country from September to December 2017 for systems, food and beverage service, and bar management in completion program. An initial 17 representatives visited the country in 2016 and enrolled under the same program.

Hospitality Management Program Chair Gil Acuna said the Memorandum of Agreement between Toyama and Benilde gives the attendees credit for their exposure in Achievement that will prepare them for a professional setting.

A bonus while in the country was an improvement in their facility with the English language.

Likewise, the Toyama students had a chance to take short trips around the country during their breaks, traveling to the mountains of Tagaytay, the resorts of Batangas, and even to the island of Boracay. A third batch of students from Toyama will be enrolling with SHRIM by the middle of 2018.
