128 BOHOL FARMERS RECEIVE LAND TITLES

A TOTAL of 128 farmers from Bohol on Thursday received their individual certificat­es of land ownership award (CLOAs) during a turnover ceremony in Tagbilaran City. Crispinian­o Fuerzas of Barangay Maitum, Catigbian town, and Anecito Granaderos, 57, of Barangay Mahayag, San Miguel, along with the rest of beneficiar­ies expressed gratitude to the administra­tion of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Department of Agrarian Reform ( DAR) for the land titles. Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto called on the beneficiar­ies to develop fully their landholdin­gs to bring down poverty incidence in the province. The CLOAs covered about 103.5351 hectares of land in the towns of Carmen, Catigbian, Getafe, Danao, Pilar, San Miguel Sierra Bullones and Guindulman.

BULACAN HOLDS FORUM ON DENGVAXIA

THE Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Bulacan held a forum on dengvaxia to enhance its dengue program surveillan­ce and response on Thursday. PHO head Joy Gomez said about 52,882 Grade 4 pupils, mostly from public schools, were injected by the dengvaxia vaccine since April 2016 and completed the three doses in April 2017. Gov. Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado said not a single pupil from almost 53,000 students given the vaccine have experience any symptoms of dengue disease. But he said informatio­n disseminat­ion and awareness campaign on the fight against dengue must continue. He said the local government of Bulacan is initiating a comprehens­ive health program and continuous­ly strengthen­ing the anti- dengue campaign program.

22,699 WORKERS IN CENTRAL LUZON GET REGULAR STATUS

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recorded a total of 22,699 workers regularize­d by 246 establishm­ents in the region as part of the government’s move to lessen unemployme­nt rate and end the contractua­lization practice. Records show that 12,689 were regularize­d in 2017 by 141 establishm­ents while 10,010 were given permanent status in 2016 under the Duterte administra­tion’s war against end- of- contract or “endo” scheme. DOLE regional director Ana Dione, in a statement, said they have dispatched 24 labor laws compliance offices to conduct assessment­s on compliance of both the General Labor Standards and Occupation­al Safety and Health Standards. Meanwhile, some 674 contractor­s in Central Luzon were given the Philippine Contractor­s Accreditat­ion Board’s window applicatio­n by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office–3 last year. DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said the 398 contractor­s are in Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Zambales and Aurora.
