Horticulture group asks QC Mayor to declare Feb. as ‘Horticulture Month’
THE Philippine Horticulture Society is asking Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista to include their annual Hortikultura Filipina event that is being held yearly at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.
According to Nelson Cabangon, member of the organizing committee of Hortikultura Filipina 2018, the group will pitch the idea to Mayor Bautista although there has been an initial talk with the city’s tourism department regarding the matter.
The 42 year- old Philippine Horticulture Society chooses Quezon City, also known as the Green City, due to the advocacy of the local government unit, which is in line with protecting and preserving the environment.
“We would like the event to become a part of the Quezon City calendar, so that’s why we are proposing it to Quezon City. We want to transform also the Quezon memorial Circle into a garden destination,” said Cabangon.
The society wants Quezon City to declare the month of February as Horticulture Month and with the promotion of medical tourism because of the various hospitals in the city.
Last year the participants showcased its plants at
inside the Que- Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales inside the Quezon Memorial Circle zon Memorial Circle but this year they were allowed to use four gardens ( with six hectares visited Hardin ng mga Bulaklak width) and the Quezon City Experience Museum for their exhibits and painting competition.
