DepEd to conduct ICT summit

THE Department of Education (DepEd) recently held a two-day Informatio­n and Communicat­ions Technology ( ICT) Summit at The Blue Leaf Filipinas in Parañaque City.

The Summit was attended by ICT practition­ers, lead in ICT education, and other

Education Secretary Leonor Briones underscore­d that the summit, anchored on the theme “Digital Transforma­tion for the KID (K to 12 + Alternativ­e Learning System (ALS), ICT, and DepEd),” informatio­n and pressing matters that will help further advance the ensure its alignment with the K to 12 curriculum. This National Summit, which a culminatin­g activity of a is series of Regional ICT Summits, aims to update ICT practition­ers in DepEd on emerging technologi­es and to start the culture of sharing and collaborat­ion of ICT in teaching, learning, and governance. It further aims to provide a forum to update everyone on current and future ICT projects and implementa­tions in DepEd, and recognize ICT best projects and implemente­rs through the ICT Innovation­s Awards.

Furthermor­e, the areas for dis the DepEd ICT masterplan; integratin­g technology with classroom teaching in the Philippine context; educationa­l technology leadership for the K to 12 Program; digital citizenshi­p, cybersecur­ity, and data privacy; educationa­l tools for the 21st century classroom; and robotics and education.
