Luxury resort in Mactan chooses AboitizPower’s Cleanergy
SHANGRI-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu has emerged to become one of the top resort destinations in the country since it opened in 1993.
It stands today as a leader in the hospitality scene with its quality of service and the charm of its property, owing mainly to the environmental conservation efforts it has been advocating over the years.
Quite recently, Shangri-La Mactan pushed the envelope further with guests now able to enjoy the property’s amenities knowing that the entire facility is powered by clean and renewable energy.
Shangri-La Mactan has chosen Cleanergy, AboitizPower’s brand for clean and renewable energy, to power their operations as well as to support their environmental sustainability initiatives.
“There are six environmental categories that Shangri- La, as a group, focuses on, including climate change mitigation,” said Shangri-La Mactan’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Service leader Irene Tan-Meca.
She added that their efforts to reduce the impact of global warming include lowering their energy consumption through the use of energy-efficient technologies, banning the use of CFCs in refrigerant and aerosol systems, and alternative energy sources.
Shangri- La aims to fulfill a 20-percent reduction in energy and CO2 emissions intensity by 2020, based on 2015 levels.
Under the Retail Competition and Open Access scheme, the resort is able to choose its own electricity supplier and has chosen AboitizPower.
