Hot picks from PH’s first indoor farmers market

-

THE Corner Market, the country’s first- ever indoor farmers market and food hall, recently opened on the second level of The Podium.

Inspired by La Boqueria in Barcelona, The Torvehallerne Market in Copenhagen, and the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, the creatively designed space spans 1,200 square meters, with 17 different merchants and a dining area that can accommodate 450 diners.

Food lovers will be delighted with The Corner Market’s Catch of The Day by Cold Storage and The Meat Depot, where customers can choose their own kind of seafood or cut of meat and have it cooked on the spot; an elevated take on dampa dining.

Fresh produce, flowers, and grab- and- go salads, on the other hand, are available at Gusto, where everything is sourced from the Ojeda’s family farm in Rizal.

The curated mix of merchants presents a wide range of cuisines from all over the world, with a strong focus on local, emerging brands and one- of-a-kind concepts.

These include Sari Salo by Myron with homegrown hits like inasal sisig and Angus beef tapa, and Inari by Hamaru’s modern Japanese cuisine. Ca Phe Saigon offers heirloom Vietnamese recipes and a vertical basil garden where you can pick your own leaves to add to your pho. This Asian culinary journey with Char Express, and its Chinese comfort food favorites and the best char siu in town; Easy Tiger, with its strong commitment to authentic Thai ingredients; and Little Kaya, with everyone’s favorite dolsot bibimbap.

On the other side of the globe, authentic Mexican tacos are here for the taking from La Taqueria del Chupacabra, or make it Mediterranean with Sultan’s menu of shawarma, kebabs, and moussaka. Pizza Morena’s signature mozzarella, mascarpone, and Parmesan pie will hit satisfy any pizza cravings, while Barcelon de Calderon’s personal- sized paellas are perfect for a leisurely lunch.

Of course, every meal should be capped off with dessert and a nice cup of coffee. Stockwell Café + Lounge’s third wave coffee will pair well with The Rabbit Hole MNL’s pastries and cakes like their best- selling ube frozen brazo. Sundays by Merry Moo, on the other hand, has yummy soft- serve ice cream in handmade, flavored waffle cones.

The Corner Market is located at the Second Level of The Podium in Ortigas Center.
