Ceres Negros, Stallion renew rivalry in PFL

- JEREMIAH M. SEVILLA

CERES Negros FC eyes to stretch its lead when it tackles the streaking Stallion Laguna FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) 2018 today at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

The Yellow Busmen and the Stallions clash for the first time in the second season at 4 p.m.

Inaugural champion Ceres Negros seeks to tighten its grip of the top spot after regaining it just recently.

The Busmen cruised their way back to the top as it clobbered Davao Aguilas FC, 3-0, last Wednesday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

OJ Porteria scored the opening goal in the first half stoppage time before Bienvenido Marañon notched a brace in the second half of the Negrenses’ previous win.

With its rousing win and Global Cebu FC’s breakthrough 3-1 victory over erstwhile leader Kaya FC-Iloilo on the same day, Ceres returned atop the six-team table with 18 points on six wins against a loss.

Stallion Laguna, on the other hand, tries to extend its two- game winning streak at the Biñan pitch.

The Stallions are coming off back-toback triumphs over Davao Aguilas (3-0) and JPV Marikina FC (4-1).

Jhan Melliza shone in the Biñan based booters’ last outings as the pintsized forward scored three goals.

Ceres will lean anew on Spanish striker Marañon along with Porteria, Stephan Shrock and Patrick Reichelt while Stallion will bank on Melliza together with fellow frontliners Carlo Polli and Yannick Tuason.
