Festival includes concert, school brigade
THE Australian Embassy and t he D av a o City Government, together with the the Australia Global Alumni, celebrated Philippines-Australia Friendship Week in Davao.
The City Government of Davao celebrated Philippines-Australia Friendship Week from May 21 to 27, 2018, in recognition of the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Throughout the week, Australian Embassy and Australia Global Alumni volunteers joined in various activities to help Davao students get ready for the opening of classes. To celebrate Philippines-Australia Friendship Day on May 22, the Embassy joined in Brigada Eskwela 2018, visited Waan Elementary School for the Davao City Mobile Library Summer Outreach, and unveiled the Australian Corner at the Davao City Library.

Australian Ambassador Amanda Gorely and Australian didgeridoo artist Jeremy Donovan talks to Bagobo Tagabawa tribe during the grant handover to the Philippine Eagle Foundation. Australia has provided P1 million to Philippine Eagle Foundation to adopt a bio- cultural approach to conservation, while developing livelihood options for the community. The project will be a true partnership among friends—with the city government providing stipends for forest guards and the community who will be hosting workshops and dialogues at their community center.
