US partners with DDB for drug abuse prevention
DEPUTY Chief of Mission Michael Klecheski of the US Embassy and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Chairpman Catalino Cuy highlighted the US-Philippines partnership in promoting drug abuse prevention at the 26th Annual National Youth Congress held in Kalibo, Aklan earlier this week.
The DDB’s annual National Youth Congress brings together more than 200 youth leaders from across the Philippines to focus on the important role young people play in community level drug abuse prevention programs. The National Youth Congress also
aims to enhance the role of youth as advocates and leaders in combatting substance abuse.
This conference highlights an important collaboration between the DDB, the Provincial Government of Aklan, and the US Embassy in the Philippines to advance youth engagement in substance use prevention.
The National Youth Congress was sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.
Other partners include the Philippine National Youth Commission and the National Youth Affairs on Drug Abuse Prevention Education, and several youth organizations nationwide.
