Ceres Negros FC wants a repeat triumph vs Stallion Laguna FC

- JEREMIAH M. SEVILLA

CERES Negros FC guns for a repeat win against Stallion Laguna FC when the two clubs collide anew in the Philippines Football League (PFL) 2018 today at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

The Yellow Busmen and the Stallions clash for the second time this season at 4 p.m.

Ceres Negros pulled off a comefrom- behind 3- 2 victory over Stallion Laguna in their first encounter four days ago at the same venue.

The defending champion banked on a strong second half to erase a two-goal deficit at halftime en route to back-to-back triumphs.

Prolific striker Bienvenido Marañon struck a brace while veteran midfielder Stephan Shrock netted the opening goal all in a span of eight minutes.

Jhan Melliza scored a brace in the first half but it went down the drain as Stallion collapsed at the restart.

Another win by the leading Busmen will help them break further away from emerging rival Kaya FC-Iloilo. Ceres holds a record of seven wins against a lone loss for 21 points—five markers clear of Kaya-Iloilo.

The Negrenses are also gunning for a third straight win after that defeat to the Ilonggos that snapped their fivegame winning start.

However, the No. 5 Stallions are eager to rebound and continue its climb in the standings. The Biñan booters have four wins against as many setbacks for nine points —five markers behind Davao Aguilas FC.

Ceres is expected to rely anew on Spanish forward Marañon and former Azkals standout Shrock while Stallion will be banking on the talent of local star Melliza to pull off an upset.
