POEA warns Pinoys seeking jobs in Japan
THE Department of Labor and Employment ( DoLE), through the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration ( POEA), has warned jobseekers against unauthorized persons or groups who promise various jobs in Japan.
POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia on Monday said those seeking employment in Japan should file their applications with qualified agencies for the Japan Technical Intern Training Program ( TITP).
The POEA accredited 188 recruitment agencies for the TITP program and the list is available at the agency’s website.
Olalia advised Filipino workers to check if the organization or manpower agency they are applying with is duly authorized by the POEA.
The 2016 Technical Training Act of Japan provides employment opportunities for Filipinos and other foreign nationals.
On November 21, 2017, the Philippine and Japanese governments signed a memorandum of cooperation that paved the way for the recruitment and deployment of Filipinos workers under the TITP.
On February 8, 2018, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd issued Department Order 188, which sets the guidelines for the TITP.
No fee of any kind is collected from the technical intern for their selection and deployment to Japan under the TITP. No deductions shall also be made from the intern’s allowances or wages for any purpose except for the prescribed allowable deductions such as tax by the host country.
