24 police chiefs in Mimaropa removed

CAMP EFIGENIO NAVARRO, Calapan City: Twenty-four chiefs of police in Mimaropa have been sacked from their posts for low performanc­e in the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the govenment.

Mimaropa comprises the provinces of Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Minaropa police regional director, approved the removal of the 24 officers upon the recommenda­tion of the Oversight Committee on Illegal Drugs headed by Senior Supt. Ferdinand Garay, deputy police regional director for operations.

Ordered sacked from their posts were the chiefs of police of Bongabong, Bulalacao, San Teodoro and Mansalay in Mindoro Oriental; Looc, Lubang, Calintaan, Paluan and Abra de Ilog in Mindoro Occidental; Santa Cruz in Marinduque; Alcantara, Calatrava, San Agustin, Santa Fe and Ferrol in Romblon; and Aborlan, Agutaya, Balabac, Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Culion, Linapacan and Quezon in Palawan, including the Irawan Police Station in Puerto Princesa City.

The oversight committee was created pursuant to the supplement­al operations, guidelines and policies of the Philippine National Police on the drug crackdown.

It is composed of personnel mandated to provide oversight functions, monitoring and periodic assessment of implementa­tion of the campaign.

Licup enjoined the remaining 53 of the 77 Mimaropa chiefs of police to triple their efforts in anti-criminalit­y operations especially on illegal drugs.

If they failed, he warned, they would also be removed from their posts.
