Batangas takes on Marinero today

-

BATANGAS guns for a second straight win when it battles the formidable Marinerong Pilipino in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League ( PBA D- League) today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Generals and the Skippers, who are tied at No. 3 with identical 1- 1 win- loss records, open the double- header game day at 1 p. m.

After losing its first game, Batangas bounced back at the expense of Centro Escolar University (CEU), 96-90, last week.

“We played as a team and that really is our strength because when they play individually, we’re always at a disadvantage. The most important here is their resiliency and they didn’t give up even if we’re under pressure,” said Batangas head coach Oliver Bunyi.

Mainstay playmaker Cedric De Joya will lead the Generals along with Clark Derige and Christian Manalo, who both have splendid showings the last time out.

Batangas also enlisted former University of Sto. Tomas shooter Clark Bautista for additional firepower.

Marinero, on the other hand, seeks to rebound from a shocking 71-88 defeat to Chélu Bar & Grill.

Veteran mentor Koy Banal and his crew are poised to score a bounce- back win, as Gilas Pilipinas Cadet forward Abu Tratter returns. He is expected to fortify their frontline with Jorey Napoles.

Filipino- American guard Trevis Jackson and Robbie Manalang will man the Skippers’ backcourt.

Meanwhile, CEU (1-2) and AMA Online Education (0-3) are keen to halt their losing skids when they clash in the second game at 3 p.m.

The Scorpions aim to arrest a two- game slide against the cellar- dwelling Titans, who are bent on notching their first win after a winless run in three games.
