Pagasa monitoring 2 LPAs outside PH
TWO low pressure areas spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility ( PAR) on Monday morning are being monitored but these have no direct impact on the country so far, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa) said.
One was spotted 675 kilometers (km) west of Basco, Batanes while the other was located east of Mindanao as of 9 a.m.
“We are continuously monitoring their behavior,” weather specialist Shelly Ignacio told The Manila Times.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring moderate to occasional heavy rains over Pangasinan, Bataan, and Zambales.
It will also bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Cavite, Batangas, and rest of Luzon.
The northern and western section of Northern Luzon and the western section of Central Luzon will have strong to gale force winds from the southwest direction with rough to very rough coastal waters.
The weather bureau said around 10 to 13 tropical cyclones may enter the Philippines from June to November this year.
“The remaining days of June will have generally near to above normal amount of rainfall over most parts of the country,” chief information office chief Venus Valdemoro said.
She said two to four cyclones may hit the country each month until November.
