Carpio declines chief justice post
ACTING Chief Justice Antonio Carpio will “decline any nomination” for the top post at the Supreme
decision of majority of his colleagues, who granted the quowarranto petition that removed Maria Lourdes Sereno.
“I have to be consistent with my position that the quo warranto is not the proper way to remove a sitting
the decision [with] which I disagree. But I will have
to implement it because I’m the temporary head of the institution,” Carpio said in an interview with “Headstart” host Karen Davila on ABS-CBN News Channel on Wednesday.
Carpio, who will retire in 2019,

as Chief Justice, citing her “lack of integrity” and failure to complete the submission of her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), a primary requirement by the Judicial and Bar Council.
