REVELLERS EYE REVENGE VS CEU

- JEREMIAH M. SEVILLA

YEARNING for revenge, Che’lu Bar & Grill clashes with tormentor Centro Escolar University (CEU) in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League (PBA D-League) Foundation Cup today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Revellers are bent on avenging their lone loss against the Scorpions when the two heavyweights collide anew at 3 p.m.

“We are very motivated. Since they are the ones who defeated us, it’s payback time,” said Che’lu head coach Stevenson Tiu, whose squad absorbed a 78-94 beating from CEU in the opening week.

Tiu’s crew is also aiming to extend its three-game streak and stay ahead in the standings.

Behind Chris Bitoon’s 31-point explosion anchored on seven triples, Che’lu beat erstwhileunbeaten Go For Gold, 97-95, just two days ago.

The win led the Revellers to a deadlock at the top with the Scratchers as they ended up with similar 4-1 slates.

CEU, however, is eager to continue its rise and score a fitting follow- up to its 97- 79 rout of Marinerong PilipinoTechnological Institute of the Philippines.

The Scorpions, who are at No. 3 with a 3-2 card, need to shrug off rust as their last win happened 10 days back.

“We have to stay sharp. We need to catch up on the things that were supposed to do and we know that we still got things we got to work on,” said CEU mentor Derrick Pumaren.

Meanwhile, Go For Gold looks to get back on the winning track and retain its share of the top spot when it battles Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College at 1 p.m.

The Charles Tiu- mentored Scratchers went on to absorb a painful loss from Che’lu despite holding a 10- point lead in the fourth quarter.

Oliver Bunyi’s Generals, on the other hand, seek to sustain the momentum from their 97- 95 win over AMA Online Education last June 25.

Carrying a 2-3 record at No. 5, Batangas also tries to earn a share of the fourth with Marinerong Pilipino.
