Robredo: Name Marcos revisors

- JOMAR CANLAS AND LLANESCA T. PANTI

In a separate petition, Robredo’s camp asked the court to order Marcos to disclose the names of revisors who were aware that a colleague brought a prohibited item — a magnifying glass — inside the recount area.

“The statement of Atty. [ Vic] Rodriguez is clear that some personalities inside the revision area were complicit in the actions of Mr. [Nestor] Borromeo,” Macalintal said.

“Plainly speaking, these persons, fully aware that the use of magnifying lens is prohibited, allowed Mr. Borromeo to not only bring the said item inside the revision area but worse, use it as well,” Macalintal said in an ex-parte motion.

Borromeo is a revisor doing the manual counting of votes for Marcos. Rodriguez is the spokesperson of Marcos.

“Rodriguez, as a lawyer and officer of the court, has the responsibility to inform the PET about the identity of the other people who were aware of the use of the plastic magnifying lens inside the revision area,” Macalintal said.

Robredo’s camp filed a manifestation calling the attention of the PET over Borromeo’s action of using a plastic magnifying lens inside the poll recount area last June 14, 2018. Rodriguez responded by issuing a statement that other people on the revision floor were aware that the plastic magnifier was being used and never complained about it.

Before the protest, Robredo’s counsels revealed in a manifestation in April that Marcos’ lawyer Joan Padilla went around the poll recount area to tell head revisors to disregard the 2016 results as stated in the election returns — documents that indicate vote count in each of the polling precincts across the country.

Padilla made the move on April 13, a day after the PET denied Robredo’s motion for the PET to set the threshold for shaded ovals at 25 percent based on the threshold set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on VCMs used in the 2016 polls. Instead, the PET decided to use the 50 percent threshold, which was applied in the 2010 polls.
