QC TO PADLOCK SLAUGHTERHOUSE

-

The Quezon City Health Department ( QCHD) raided a slaughterhouse in Barangay Sangandaan that continues to operate despite a closure order for violations of the city veterinary code. Maria Lourdes Eleria, QCHD Sanitary Division chief, said they found the slaughterhouse to be violating the city’s sanitation standards and the meats do not have certification from the National Meat Inspection Service. Among the other violations include the absence of a holding area for the animals to be slaughtered and its feces and blood were all over the abattoir facility. The QCHD stressed that the slaughterhouse does not have a sewerage treatment tank and has not secured sanitary permit since 2015. The QCHD said the butchery section will be shut down permanently. The QC Business Permit and Licensing Office ( BPLO) in May ordered the Labudahon Slaughterhouse to be padlocked for various violations the city ordinance.
