Pensioners get door-todoor service

- KIMBERLY MALAIT

PENSIONERS aged 80 and above no longer need to step out of their homes to verify their identity as the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) agreed to conduct door-to- door service.

Under the Proof of Life program, the GSIS Status Verification Forms (GSVFs) will be delivered to the registered address of pensioners aged 80 and the interviews to verify their identity will be conducted within their homes.

“This authentication process, we believe, is very beneficial to the pensioners since the process itself will be the one visiting the retirees,” Postmaster General Joel Otarra said in a statement.

Some 66,691 pensioners are expected to benefit from the Proof of Life program this year.

The GSVF carriers will require the clients’ eCards, UMID and other valid IDs for cross- checking and identity verification. To document the date of home visits, the PHLPost representatives will be required to take photos with the clients.

The PHLPost reminded the concerned members to always request the PHLPost representatives to present valid IDs before allowing them to enter their homes for the interviews.
