- ROY NARRA

FOUR police officers assigned in Muntinlupa City were arrested in an operation on Friday for allegedly kidnapping a woman and her son.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar presented the suspects – SPO1 Psylo Joe Jimenez, PO3 Romeo Par, PO2 Farvy Dela Cruz, and PO1 Jon-Jon Averion on Saturday.

They are all assigned at the Muntinlupa City Police Station-Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).

Four other police officers who are also allegedly involved in a kidnapping incident are currently at large. They are SPO1 Edgardo Zervoulakos, PO3 Charlie Miranda, PO3 Roderick Salvador, and Police Inspector Mark Kevin Pesigan, the chief of the DEU.

The policemen were arrested based on the complaint of Abner Bumatay, who claimed that the police officers barged into their house on July 12. The lawmen said it was a legitimate anti- illegal drug operation.

The police officers arrested Glaiza Iglesias, Bumatay’s partner, and their seven-year- old son. Bumatay said the policemen took their money, pieces of jewelry, a television unit, cellular phones and a laptop.

The next day, the policemen demanded P40,000 in exchange for the release of Iglesias and her son.

Police operatives rescued Iglesias and her son, who were held on the fourth floor of a building adjacent to the office of the station’s DEU.

Recovered from the policemen were the entrapment money and the stolen television.
