CALABARZON PNP LAUNCHES ‘ PROJECT BLUE BOX’
LUCENA CITY, Quezon: Police Regional Office Calabarzon (PRO- Calabarzon) kicks off its newest program on Monday at SM Lucena dubbed “Project Blue Box.” The project aims to obtain the community’s participation to improve the police mandate of keeping peace and order and ensuring the people’s safety. Lucena Police chief, Supt.Romulo Albacea, led the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the mall, represented by Assistant Mall Manager Russel Alegre, PRO- Calabarzon headed by Chief Supt. Eduardo Carranza, Quezon Police Director, Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman and Lucena City Mayor Roderick Alcala. The first ‘’blue box” is locked and firmly established at the mall, encouraging citizens to drop in all their concerns, including comments, complaints and suggestions and the police will act immediately on them. Alcala congratulated the Philippine National Police over the project, saying everybody must practice “vigilance, participation, transparency and involvement.” He added that the local government is “very much prepared to assist the police, especially in coordination with the President’s goals of curbing all forms of criminality.” He sought guarantee from the police that any information ‘dropped’ in the blue box would be treated seriously and confidentially. The launch was attended by chiefs of police from Quezon’s 39 municipalities and two cities, Quezon Police Advisory Council, department heads of local government units and force multipliers such as barangay ( village) police and radio communication groups.
