Govt vows to improve PNP health benefits
SEC. Christopher Lawrence “Bong”Go, Special Assistant to the President (SAP), said that President Rodrigo Duterte is committed to improving equally the health services provided to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
In a media interview during his visit to the 25th PNP-Health Service Anniversary, Go relayed the President’s word that “whatever is being given to AFP, like the improvement of the Veterans Hospital, must also be done to the PNP Health Services.”
Go assured that the priority of the Duterte administration has always been the police and the military as they are the front-liners in ensuring peace and order in the country.
The secretary said this was apparent when Duterte fulfilled his 2016 promise to increase the base pay of the police, even without the unforeseen wars and conflicts that happened under his administration. Go assured the PNP that there would be improved facilities and modernized PNP General Hospital after the President and he visited AFP soldiers over the weekend.
Go also said he would check the current status of the development of the Medical Facility in Camp Panopio.
We will be visiting the hospital [PNP General Hospital]. Initially, I’ve talked to [PNP Chief] General [Oscar] Albayalde and his wife about the disparities and shortcomings, and the President said that whatever is being given to the armed forces, to the military, must also be given to the police,” Go added.
