Pro-Duterte group forms new political party

- CATHERINE S. VALENTE

A pro-administration group has formed a new political party to boost support for President Rodrigo Duterte and replace what it described as “same old corrupt politicians” in the government.

Former Education Undersecretary Antonio “Butch” Valdez, who heads the newly formed Katipunan ng Demokratikong

Pilipino (KDP), told TheManilaTimes that the party would field its own candidates in the 2019 elections with the intention to

the Filipino people.”

“We generated support on the basis of ideas and reacted to people’s anger and frustration. We formed the political party due to our people’s clamor to provide an alternative to same old corrupt politicians whose hands are all soiled with stolen money and who cheated to become senators/congressmen,” Valdez said in a statement.

he inspired our people. We intend to follow his example of sincerity and courage. He trusted God and the Filipino people, so should we,” he added.

Valdez said the party started as an advocacy group called Movement to Save the Nation, Solidarity for Sovereignty and Citizen National Guard and applied with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as a political party.

such as lawyer Ramon Pedrosa, Princess Lady Ann Indanan-Sahidulla and Ricardo Fulgencio 4th, are proponents of the Citizen National Guard, a group supportive of Duterte

the true enemies of the nation, including the so-called “yellowtards.”

But Valdez said that despite the party’s support for the Duterte, it stands as an independent political party.

“Duterte is not with this party. We are an independent political party,” he told TheManila

Times in a text message.

the man behind the impeachment of thenChief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Valdez said these members are not traditional politicians.

He added that the KDP is a party of principle, not of convenience and personalities.

“We can come up with a team of winners, not just to join debates, but eventually to seize collective leadership, which will implement programs that directly benefit the Filipino people,” Valdez said.

“It is our hope that, with God’s grace and intervention, trusting [in] our people’s deter

renaissance, we shall succeed,” he added.

According to Valdez, the KDP would take up three main issues that have been ignored by all other political parties.

These are electoral fraud through Smartmatic, the Dengvaxia scam and high cost of energy and water, he added.

“All these have a direct impact on our quality of life and we will provide solutions to these,” Valdez said.

Aside from a congressional line-up, the party is also building its roster for local positions.

Valdes said the President and his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who recently formed a regional party, have been informed about the KDP.

The KDP has been accredited by the Comelec as a national political party since May this year.

The party, which aims to revolutionize the current political genetics in the country, was launched on Friday, August 31, at Club Filipino in San Juan City.
