Corruption allegations politically motivated – Go

-

SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Monday said allegations of corruption leveled against him in relation to the public work contracts awarded to his family were “politically motivated attacks.”

In a media interview in Davao City, Go dismissed reports on the deals awarded to companies owned by his father and half-brother as “another bloated story.”

“Did I have any involvement in these? Did I touch anything? None,” he said.

Go said that while he could not keep his family from doing business, he has never used his political influence to help the family-owned CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders thrive.

A recent report by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism said CLTG Builders, owned by Go’s father, Deciderio, won a total of P1.85 billion in government contracts from 2007 to 2017, excluding joint venture projects with Alfrego, which was owned by his half-brother Alfredo.

He noted that CLTG Builders and Alfredo Builders “did not even reach top 10” among the list of top construction companies in Davao City.

“For 15 years, I prevented my family from entering [the Davao] City Hall. I told them, “If you enter City Hall, I will leave [it],” Go said.

Go was recently chosen as the top three senatorial candidates in a poll recently conducted by the PDP-Laban party, along with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and Sen. Aquilino Pimentel 3rd.

Go had denied any plans of running for the Senate. He said that attacks against him were to be “expected.” Go said that even before he was born, his family’s construction business was already in place. He added that he could have used the influence of the President, but chose not to because of “delicadeza.”

He denied claims that their family-owned business has had deals with the government amounting to billions, calling these “malicious.”

“That’s malicious. Imagine, billions in just 10 years?” he asked.

The secretary said he was ready to face a Senate hearing any time.
