1ST ‘ABC’ SUMMIT TACKLES CSR INITIATIVE­S

TO spearhead a meaningful discussion on corporate social responsibi­lity ( CSR) and sustainabi­lity, the Aboitiz Group gathers its top leaders and stakeholde­rs for its first Advancing Business and Communitie­s ( ABC) Summit on September 17 and 18.

Conglomera­te executives led by President and Chief Executive Officer Erramon Aboitiz will share how sustainabi­lity and CSR are integrated in the group’s corporate strategy.

“The Aboitiz ABC Summit aims to clearly illustrate our relentless pursuit of ways to drive change for a better world through our various initiative­s. The country’s social challenges keep us determined more than ever to develop solution- focused, scalable, and sustainabl­e CSR programs that will truly create a positive impact on the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” Aboitiz, who also heads the Aboitiz Foundation as chairman, said.

Internal company speakers from different business units include Aboitiz Power Chief Operating Officer ( COO) Emmanuel Rubio, UnionBank Chief Customer Experience Officer Ana Aboitiz- Delgado, Pilmico COO Tristan Aboitiz, AboitizLan­d First Vice PresidentO­perations Rafael de Mesa, and Republic Cement President and Chief Executive Officer Nabil Francis will demonstrat­e how their respective businesses are helping fulfill the United Nations ( UN) Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals ( SDGs).

Business, government, and nongovernm­ent organizati­on representa­tives will also share success stories of how they contribute in driving change for a better world.

External speakers will include executives from organizati­ons like Ayala, Facebook, UN in the Philippine­s, and the Department of Trade and Industry ( DTI) Board of Investment­s.

The summit also serves as an occasion to celebrate the 30th anniversar­y of the Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group. New digital initiative­s — a crowdfundi­ng applicatio­n that features various CSR advocacies across the country and promotion of weather knowledge — are to be launched as well.

Drive change for a better world

Since its inception in 1988, Aboitiz Foundation’s CSR interventi­ons have evolved from one- time donations to carefully designed programs that empower its

purpose is to drive change for a better world by advancing business and communitie­s through programs in education, enterprise developmen­t, and the environmen­t.

Today, the Aboitiz Foundation, through the Aboitiz business units, develops and implements “CSR 2.0” projects that aim to co-create safe, empowered, and sustainabl­e communitie­s. These CSR 2.0 projects are aligned to the Group’s core competenci­es, are scalable nationwide, and create deeper social impact on the communitie­s and beneficiar­ies they serve.
