A ‘Taste of Japan’ with chef Genta Aoyagi
PROFESSIONAL Japanese culinary cuisine chef Genta Aoyagi of Hilton Tokyo made his way to the Philippines on September 19 to share his expertise to the Filipinos via “Taste of Japan” by Conrad Manila’s all- day dining restaurant Brasserie on 3.
Chef Aoyagi brought home the top titles in the National Japanese Culinary Arts Championship in 2016 and 2017, and is the Tokyo Governor winner of the 2015 National Japanese Cuisine Competition. He is also credited as being one of the pioneers in integrating sustainable rice grain into Hilton Tokyo’s Junisoh menu, joining the cultivation and harvest in the rice fields for the published “Junisoh Rice Project.”
Equally important for Chef Aoyogi’s bringing his culinary specialties to Conrad Manila is his aim to share the secrets of Hilton Tokyo’s Junisoh as more than just a Japanese restaurant. Chef Aoyogi lets diners experience the spirit of Japanese culture through an explosion of tasteful adventures and culinary art with only the freshest, seasonally-picked ingredients. The expert constantly engineers new and innovative dishes that convey the nuances of each of Japan’s distinctive natural offerings, combining historical and contemporary excellence that is sure to promise sensations like no other.
Chef Aoyagi’s menu for Taste of Japan include Torched squid and grilled eggplant with seaweed jelly, Grilled wagyu with soy malt, Sashimi Rainbow, Crusted Tuna, Kinako pudding with matcha, among others.
“We are delighted to host Hilton Tokyo’s Chef Aoyogi , who is joined by their assistant director of food and beverage, Michihiro Mishima, as we indulge our guests with a culinary exploration of the shores of the Far East. As a popular and well-respected chef in Tokyo, we are confident that he will take Manila’s Japanese dining connoisseurs on an outstanding gastronomic experience, “Conrad Manila General Manager Laurent Boisdron said.
Meanwhile, Executive Chef Daniel Patterson enthused, “With dishes known for its freshness, rich umami taste and artistic presentation, this exchange of recipes, culture and tradition between Tokyo and Manila embodies Conrad Manila’s commitment in providing our guests with a taste of luxury and innovative world of style.”
The authentic celebration of Taste of Japan is up until September 23.
