A ‘Taste of Japan’ with chef Genta Aoyagi

PROFESSION­AL Japanese culinary cuisine chef Genta Aoyagi of Hilton Tokyo made his way to the Philippine­s on September 19 to share his expertise to the Filipinos via “Taste of Japan” by Conrad Manila’s all- day dining restaurant Brasserie on 3.

Chef Aoyagi brought home the top titles in the National Japanese Culinary Arts Championsh­ip in 2016 and 2017, and is the Tokyo Governor winner of the 2015 National Japanese Cuisine Competitio­n. He is also credited as being one of the pioneers in integratin­g sustainabl­e rice grain into Hilton Tokyo’s Junisoh menu, joining the cultivatio­n and harvest in the rice fields for the published “Junisoh Rice Project.”

Equally important for Chef Aoyogi’s bringing his culinary specialtie­s to Conrad Manila is his aim to share the secrets of Hilton Tokyo’s Junisoh as more than just a Japanese restaurant. Chef Aoyogi lets diners experience the spirit of Japanese culture through an explosion of tasteful adventures and culinary art with only the freshest, seasonally-picked ingredient­s. The expert constantly engineers new and innovative dishes that convey the nuances of each of Japan’s distinctiv­e natural offerings, combining historical and contempora­ry excellence that is sure to promise sensations like no other.

Chef Aoyagi’s menu for Taste of Japan include Torched squid and grilled eggplant with seaweed jelly, Grilled wagyu with soy malt, Sashimi Rainbow, Crusted Tuna, Kinako pudding with matcha, among others.
