PACQUIAO NAMED ISPS HANDA AMBASSADOR
THE International Sports Promotion Society also known as ISPS Handa has appointed eight- division world champion and Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao as one of its global ambassadors.
ISPS Handa country director Kevin O’Brien and ISPS director Midori Miyazaki coferred the recognition to the acclaimed boxing icon, and officially turned over its contribution ($ 100,000) to the senator’s charity foundation.
“It’s a great honor to be an ISPS Handa ambassador. I was able to meet Dr. Handa earlier in Japan this year, and we have become good friends since then,” said Pacquiao during a press conference at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
“Since we are both sports enthusiasts, we share the same vision of using sports to bring people together and promote world peace. And I am happy to know that this is the same vision that has inspired ISPS Handa since it began,” he said.
Founded by Haruhisa Handa, the Japanese charitable organization has gained renown for its active involvement and sponsorship in major global golf tournament and has also played a major role in the promotion of blind gold worldwide.
