TMT CORRESPONDENT AMONG CANDIDATES IN PANGASINAN
DAGUPAN CITY: Veteran newsman and TheManilaTimes provincial correspondent Jaime Aquino is among the 46 candidates who filed their certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for provincial and congressional elective posts in Pangasinan. Aquino, of Barangay Aserda, Mapandan town and a journalist for more than 30 years, is running for a seat in the 3rd district facing incumbent Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas. Aquino said Arenas is a native of Makati City. Meanwhile, Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said the five-day period was generally peaceful and orderly, except for minor glitches. He said there are two contenders for the gubernatorial post – Gov. Amado Espino 3rd, and Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste. Espino’s running mate is former board member Angel Baniqued Sr., while Celeste’s vice governor is retired police officer Paterno Orduna. Other district representative candidates are Bolinao Mayor Arnold Celeste, DoTr Undersecretary Thomas Orbos and Ernesto Regaspi (1st district); Board Member Raul Sison, Bugallon town Mayor Jumel Anthony Espino and Roberto Merrera Jr. (2nd district); re-electionist Rep. Christopher George Martin de Venecia is facing former Dagupan City vice mayor Alipio Vittorio Ramon Fernandez, Teodoro Wilhelm Manaois, Dagupan City Councilor Redford Christian Erfe-Mejia and Larry Gryson de Venecia (4th district); re-electionist Rep. Amado Espino Jr. and Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico 3rd (5th district); and Tayug Mayor Tyrone Agabas and Myrna Custodo (6th district).
