35 tankers earn MOS awards in PSL-MX3 DPS Swim Challenge
THIRTY-five tankers bagged the Most Outstanding Swimmer awards in their respective age-bands in the 148th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series - MX3 DPS Swim Challenge held at the Diliman Preparatory School (DPS) swimming pool in Quezon City.
Heading the list of awardees in Class AB were Susan Papa Swim Academy standouts Marc Bryan Dula of Masville Elementary School-Paranaque and Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Immaculate Heart of Mary CollegeParanaque – both fresh from winning gold medals in the 2018 Tokyo Invitational Swimming Championship in Japan.
Dula registered four new records – in 200m Individual Medley (2:33.94), 100m butterfly (1:09.16), 100m breaststroke (1:10.72) and 100m breaststroke (1:23.89) – in the tournament supported by TheManilaTimes, MX3 and DMI Medical Supplies Company.
“We are happy with the outcome of this competition especially seeing swimmers from Motivational Division developed into Class AB athletes. It motivates me a lot to continue this grassroots program for them,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
Also winning MOS were DPS tankers Jenn Sermonia (girls’ 10-year), Paula Carmela Cusing (girls’ 15- over) and Xavier Salinel (boys’ 10-year) as well as promising swimmers Julia Basa (girls’ 11-year), Alyssa Cabatian (girls’ 9-year), Jan Karylle Sarmiento (girls’ 13-year) and Rigel Hechanova (girls’ 14-year).
The MOS winners in the boys’ division were Seb Rafael Santos ( 9), Hugh Antonio Parto ( 12), Marcus Dekam and Yohan Cabana ( 13), Marc Ibarrola ( 14) and Jules Mirandilla ( 15- over).
In Motivational Division, Behrouz Mojdeh (7), Asael Aman (8), Ezechiel Marcelino (9), Jacian Hernandez (10), Daniel Santos (11), Antonio Catangay (12), Alex Cuevas (13), Gerald Beredo (14) and Kyle Luna (15- over) pocketed the top honors in the boys category.
Earning MOS in the girls’ class were Kurile Hechanova and Sophia Garra ( 6- under), Kirsten Dimatatac ( 7), Bella Fano ( 8), Ericka Sanchez ( 9), Alyana Villapena ( 10), Angela Quidasol ( 11), Setfany Magana ( 12), Bernadette Cabatian ( 13), Ivhana Dimaligalig ( 14) and Quinn Tan Guat ( 15- over).
