FEU HANDS UST FIRST LOSS IN PFFWL

-

SPEEDING off to a scorching start, Far Eastern University dealt University of Sto. Tomas (UST) its first loss, 3-0, and jumped to the third spot in the 2018 Philippine Football Federation Women’s League (PFFWL) on Sunday at the PFF National Training Center Aritificial Turf Pitch in Carmona, Cavite.

Bea Requerme and Roselle Lecera struck a goal each just two minutes into the game as the Lady Tamaraw Booters snapped the Lady Golden Booters’ seven-game winning streak to ascend to No. 3.

Far Eastern U, which also drew a goal 58th minute from Suettie Simoy, improved to 13 points on four wins and a draw against two losses.

Despite the loss, UST remained atop the 10team standings with 21 points built on a sevenwin start.

In the other fixture, prolific forward Isabelle Bandoja broke the scoring record to tow Tuloy FC to a 6-3 stunner over OutKast FC.

Bandoja fired five goals, hiking her season total to 22 goals and surpassing the 21 goals of De La Salle University striker Kyra Dimaandal last season.

With the Bandojapowered win, league rookie Tuloy climbed to No. 4 with 13 points on a 4- 1- 2 slate.

Former national team player Jennizel Cabalan scored a hat-trick but it was not enough to save OutKast from falling to No. 6 with 10 points on a 3-1-4 card.

Meanwhile, in the games last Saturday, defending champion La Salle solidified its hold of the second spot with a narrow 2-1 victory over sister team Green Archers United FC even as Hiraya FC hacked out a 9-0 demolition of University of the Philippines.

The second-running Lady Booters banked on Rocelle Mendaño then held Green Archers United’s second half fightback to notch their sixth triumph on top of a draw for 19 points.

Vanessa Fabon hit a hat- trick while Erika Casas and Natasha Alquiros each netted a brace to fuel Hiraya’s rout that pushed them to No. 5 with 11 points on a 3- 2- 2 sheet.

Green Archers United stayed at No. 8 (1-1-5 for four points) while the Lady Maroon Booters were left stuck at the cellar with a winless record (two draws against five defeats for two markers).
