Cignal, Cocolife eye to recover from setbacks

-

AFTER a straight-sets loss to their respective foes, Cignal and Cocolife will try to bounce back when they collide today in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The HD Spikers and the Asset Managers will clash at 7 p.m., each hoping to set their bids on track after their initial setbacks.

Cignal, which bowed to F2 Logistics, and Cocolife, which surrendered to Petron, wasted no time reassessing their weaknesses as they need to gear up for the prestigious women’s club tourney bankrolled by Isuzu, Sogo, Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller, UCPB Gen and Bizooku.

Opposite spiker Mylene Paat-- a revelation for the national team during her stint in the Asian Games-- led the way for the HD Spikers with 12 points.

Also to be counted on is Filipino-American recruit Kalei Mau, who left a good impression after her PSL debut after she hammered 13 points and 11 digs for the Asset Managers.

They will be the focus of today’s clash between their teams.

Meanwhile, Foton and Generika-Ayala will raise the curtain at 4 p.m. in this tourney that also has ESPN5, Hyper HD and Aksyon TV as broadcast partners

Playing without the towering Santiago sisters Dindin and Jaja, who are both currently playing in Japan, the Blue Tornadoes are aware of the big voids they have to fill.

Dindin is with Toray Arrows, while Jaja is with Ageo Medics in the Japan V League.

“It’s a big challenge for us not having the Santiago sisters around for this conference.
