TACLOBAN essayed a dominant 25- 11, 2512, 25- 19 triumph over Adamson- Akari on Saturday to keep its slim hopes for a playoff for the last semifinal slot in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center.

Dimdim Pacres unleashed a 14- kill game and finished with 17 hits while the rest backed her up with a game good enough to dispose of the Lady Falcons in a match they were expected to dominate.

They seized solo fifth at 6- 7 but remained behind the PetroGazz Angels ( 6- 5) in their spirited battle for the fourth and last Final Four seat in the season- ending conference organized by Sports Vision.

Idle Pocari- Air Force is also in the hunt with a 5- 7 slate.

Tacloban, however, must hurdle its last elims assignment against semifinalist BanKo- Perlas on Saturday in Batangas City and hope that PetroGazz won’t go over seven wins to force a playoff.

“Every game is a championship game for us,” said Pacres, who vowed to dish out her best against BanKo- Perlas. “But we have to play confident and continue to trust in ourselves.”

The Perlas Spikers toppled the Warays in four games in their first round meeting last Oct. 10 but with Pacres still out of the Tacloban roster.

Adamson tried to fight back in the third set but lost steam in the stretch and absorbed their 11th straight defeat, sealed by Pacres’ power hit to the baseline after a long rally.

Meanwhile, PetroGazz hopes to assure itself of at least a playoff for the last semis berth as it plays also- ran Adamson- Akari at resumption of action at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today ( Sunday).

The Angels, who crushed the Lady Falcons in three in their first round clash last Oct. 13, are fancied to get past the San Marcelino-based squad in their 6 p.m. match and nail that allimportant seventh win in 12 games.

The Angels were actually looking to clinch that victory against the Ateneo- Motolite Lady Eagles at presstime with a loss forcing them to hurdle the Lady Falcons to secure at least a semis berth playoff against possibly Pocari or Tacloban.

The event, organized by Sunrise Events, Inc. and held to promote a healthy lifestyle, was graced by three-time Tour de France green jersey winner Robbie McEwen and other Star Magic artists.
