Shake Shack to open first Asean joint in Manila early 2019

-

CRITICALLY acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand Shake Shack is slated to open early next year in Bonifacio Global City ( BGC), located at Central Square on the corner of C1 Park and 5th Avenue.

Known for its 100-percent all-natural Angus beef burgers and chicken sandwiches, griddled flat- top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle- cut fries, craft beer, wine and more, the BGC joint will be the first in Southeast Asia.

In partnership with the SSI Group, Shake Shack will work with local purveyors, producers, and artists to create a unique experience for the Filipino community, even before the restaurant opens.

Construction will kick off with two murals by local street artist Jappy Agoncillo who is known for his urban art around the metro. Inspired by the spirit and landscape of Metro Manila, the murals celebrate the unique community that Shake Shack will soon call home.

The first mural, found on the store facade along 5th Avenue “used real life monuments and buildings, each from some of the major cities that make up Metro Manila, as inspiration,” Agoncillo said of his work. The second, displayed inside Central Square, is inspired by Manila’s distinct rooftop scenery. Neon in the daytime and glowing at night, the murals are the first pieces of Filipino art to join Shack’s creative community.

For even more fun while construction progresses, a larger- than- life installation featuring the iconic ShackBurger bag will appear in various locations around the BGC neighborhood.

A New York City institution and global brand, Shake Shack’s fine dining heritage and commitment to thoughtful ingredient sourcing, preparation, hospitality and quality, coupled with its fun and lively environment has earned the brand a cult-like following around the world.

In its 14- year history, Shake Shack has been recognized with countless accolades, including Bon Appétit’s “The 20 Most Important Restaurants in America” (ranked #16), TIME Magazine’s “17 Most Influential Burgers of All Time” (ranked #7 for the ShackBurger) and winning “Best Burger” in 2014 at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival’s Burger Bash. Recently, Shake Shack was awarded the 2018 IFMA COEX Innovation Award for Culinary/Operations for a regional chain.

Since the original Shack opened in 2004 in NYC’s Madison Square Park, the company has expanded to more than 190 locations in 26 U.S. States and the District of Columbia, including 70 international locations including London, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo, Moscow, Seoul and more.
