Muslim folk raise P1M to get killer of ‘imam’

Muslim residents Sur were able to raise P1 million as a reward for the immediate capture of the gunman who killed imam Bedejim Abdullah on Thursday last week.

An imam is a Muslim leader of a mosque.

The Philippine National Police in Baguio City had released photos of the suspect.

Policer were able to get the identity of the suspect from CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene.

Those with any informatio­n on the suspect are urged to call the nearest police station for immediate verificati­on of what they know.

A Special Investigat­ion Task Group is set to give updates about the case this week.

As the Muslim community continues to clamor for justice, various groups will be conducting prayer rallies this Friday in Baguio City and Marawi City.

Imam Joel Omar asked Muslims in Baguio to remain hopeful that the police will soon solve the case.

“Attayong mga Muslim manatili tayong mapayapa at ipagkatiwa­la natin sa kapulisan ang sitwasyon [ We should remain calm and let the police handle the situation],” he said.

Pastor Herman Ilagan, a missionary evangelist in Baguio, condemned the killing as he also urged the police and the local government “to focus on peace and order” in Baguio City.
