BVR December Open 2018 fires off Friday

-

TWELVE teams in the women’s and men’s division will vie for supremacy in the Beach Volleyball Republic On Tour December Open 2018: A Christmas Rally starting Friday at the Sands SM By The Bay.

The three-day event will also feature the Sandroots program, a beach volleyball workshop with the players handling the children’s camp on Saturday.

As an act of gratitude for another successful year, the BVR will hold a celebrity match for a cause on Sunday, with the ticket sales benefiting the Mindanao State University College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Academy in Marawi City.

Tournament format calls for four brackets of three teams, with the top two pairs in each group advancing to the knockout quarterfinals.

The winners will make it to the semifinals, where the survivors will clash for the title in the 10th and final leg of the year.

The games will start at 8 a.m.

In the women’s side, Group A is composed of BanKo-Perlas 1, Air Force 1 and National UniversityBoysen, while University of Santo Tomas-Maynilad 1, Creamline and Wild Card composed Group B.

Group C is composed of UST-Maynilad 2, Malaya-Far Eastern University and Air Force 2, while BanKo-Perlas 2, Petro Gazz and Rizal Technological University make Group D.

Meanwhile, Tiger Winx, the Dumaguete leg champions, will head a heavy cast in the men’s division.

Also in the mix are two teams from Cignal, PLDT and Luna, Air Force, Fury-Ritemed, Malaya, NU-Boysen and two Wild Card pairs.

Now on its third year as the premiere beach volleyball organization in the country, BVR has emerged as an outdoor lifestyle brand known for its beach volleyball tournaments and nationwide tours.

The BVR aims that every aspiring beach volleyball athlete be given an opportunity to showcase and improve his or her talent through competitive games. It also yearns to promote the sports of beach volleyball across the country with the ultimate goal of making the Philippines Asia’s hub for beach volleyball.

BVR’s Dumaguete sojourn last month’s was the most well attended leg in the three-year old beach volleyball circuit.
