Samsung Galaxy S10: What we know so far
THE Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to debut late this month. Post- unpacked event, it will most likely be available by mid- March.
For Galaxy fans, the forthcoming flagship device is more than just another chance to upgrade. This is a milestone device celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Samsung Galaxy franchise.
Major improvements are also anticipated since its S9 predecessor did not do as well in sales compared to previous generations from the Galaxy catalogue.
According to Tom’s Guide, the S10 will arrive in four variants. But more importantly, there is a possibility that the S10 may be 5G- capable. “There will seemingly be four variants of the Galaxy S10 at a multitude of sizes, ranging from 5.8 inches for the S10 Lite, to as large as 6.4 or 6.7 inches for the S10 Plus. The cheapest could have a flat display, while the largest and most expensive may support 5G and carry a total of six cameras across the front and rear. There will be an ultrasonic in- display fingerprint sensor in some of these models, a nearly bezel- free display with a hole- punch cutout for the front- facing camera and as many as four cameras on the rear for superior phototaking abilities in any condition.”
Last year, 5G talks and news dominated the tech industry. The 5th generation of mobile connectivity will manage to achieve over 10Gbps that will allow millions of devices simultaneously connected connected, downloading of one movie in 10 seconds or less Car2Car connections, and basically making Smart cities and the Internet of Things ( IoT) a reality.

Apart from the anniversary smartphones, bendy handsets are also anticipated. Tom’s Guide added, “The S10 and its larger sibling, the Galaxy Note 10, likely won’t be the only premium phones Samsung introduces next year. At its developer conference in November, Samsung finally unveiled the foldable phone it’s been working on for so long, nicknamed by insiders as the Galaxy F. While the Galaxy F was shown briefly, in a boxy case and under very protective lighting, many expect the final product to debut sometime in 2019.”
Specs-wise, “Samsung employs both its own Exynos and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors in its phones, and uses one or the other depending on the requirements of each region’s carriers. Snapdragon-powered Galaxy devices typically only launch in North America — so it should come as little surprise that the Snapdragon 855,
reach most premium Android devices this year, will be featured in at least U.S.-bound versions of the S10. Meanwhile, the Exynos 9820 will be featured in the international variants. RAM will likely vary between the models, starting in the neighborhood of 6GB for the S10 Lite and potentially ranging as high as 12GB for the top-of-the-line, oft-rumored 5G model.”
At the end of the day, the S10 is for fans who deliberately skipped S9 and Note9 to save up for the 10th anniversary phone.
